New Classic Childrens Book – Jimba Jackobean and the Octodillioes.

‘Jimba Jackobean and the Octodillioes’ preview…

‘Jimba Jackobean and the Octodillioes’ (say ‘octo-dilly-ohs’), the second book in the Jackowhisp series, was supposed to be available for Christmas this year but we are behind schedule. Many of you have been asking and I can now tell you that the ‘Octodillioes’ will be available early in 2011. When I have a definite date for the release I will post a notice on my website so you will be the first to know. Thank you for your patience.

‘Jimba Jackobean and the Octodillioes’ is about Jimba going on a field trip to the beach with his teacher and the rest of the class. While the other Jack-o-Whispers are happy to collect shells for their class projects, Jimba wants to see octodillioes, but the octodillioes only come out of the water out at night.

There is a lovely surprise for Jimba at the end of the book, but I won’t tell you what it is – you will need to read it to find out. Hmm… I wonder what an octodillio looks like.

‘Jimba Jackobean and the Octodillioes’ is beautifully illustrated by Omar Aranda, and delightful to read. I hope you enjoy reading about Jimba, he is a great character and I know he will be a favourite in classic children’s books for years to come.

The illustrations for ‘Jimba Jackobean and the Octodillioes’ are looking great. Omar has set them out a little differently this time and I think the effect is better still. Omar has drawn some wonderful birds too, so make sure you look for them as you read the book.

Also, you will meet some of Jimba’s friends. There is Melody Whisper, Jasper Whipjack, Mae Mae Jitter-Jump and of course, Mrs Jickelby, Jimba’s teacher.

Don’t forget to tell your friends about Jimba and how they can buy a book from my website www.alexistapp.com

When you order books in December, you also get some FREE gifts:

  • a free Jackowhisp bookmark and
  • a free Jackowhisp pen.

So tell your friends about this special offer.

Jimba and his friends wish you a lovely Christmas. Stay safe.

Short Stories For Kids #5 | Why Is Mrs Whitterkins Outside In Her Nightgown?

Meet Mrs Whitterkins, The Mayor’s Wife | Alexis Tapp

Here’s Mrs Whitterkins, all dressed up for an important meeting. You can meet Mrs Whitterkins for the first time in ‘Jimba Jackobean and the Bouncer Bangerrings’, the first of my childrens story books in the JackoWhisp series.

Mrs Whitterkins lives with her husband, the Mayor of JackoWhisp Village, at number 1 Whippoorwill Avenue in a very posh house with beautiful wrought iron gates. (Did you discover the answer to the question about wrought iron gates in my last post about the JackoWhisp Series?)

Alexis Tapp Short Stories For Kids | Mrs Whitterkins

When you meet Hilda Whitterkins for the first time, she is outside in the middle of the night in her nightgown, asking her husband, “Is it an earthquake?”

Her husband, the mayor trembled as he answered, “Could be, but there’s never been an earthquake in JackoWhisp before.”

I won’t spoil the surprise by telling you what it really was, but I will tell you something else about Hilda Whitterkins… she keeps cluckets in a pen in her back yard, and you will meet the cluckets in the third book of the JackoWhisp series of kids story books, ‘Melody Whisper and the Golden Clucket’.

Some quick activities for you:

  1. Use your imagination to guess what cluckets might be. Type your answer in the comments box below.
  2. Where might Mrs Whitterkins be going all dressed up?
  3. Draw Hilda Whitterkins outside at night in her nightgown.

Short Stories For Kids #3 | Why Do Bouncer Bangerrings Bounce?

Say hello to Bobber Bangerring

This Bouncer Bangerring is a friend of Jimba Jackobean, the main character of my first book, ‘Jimba Jackobean and the Bouncer Bangerrings‘ in the Jackowhisp Series.

Bouncer Bangerring From Jackowhisp | Short Stories For Kids by Alexis TappRemember that I told you that Jimba was a very noisy Jack-o-Whisper who lives in a village of very quiet Jack-o-Whispers?

Well, when you read the Jimba Jackobean book you will meet the Bouncer-Bangerrings. Jimba loves them because they are big and loud and loads of fun.

Jimba visits them often and tries to bounce with them. They love bouncing; in fact they prefer bouncing to walking any day.

The Bouncer-Bangerrings live in Bangerring Mountain and it’s just the right place for them because it is big and has plenty of room for bouncing!

Why do you think Bobber Bangerring finds it fun and easy to bounce? Share your answer with other kids in the comments box below. Here’s little hint for you … it has something to do with his shape :)

Have you downloaded your FREE, full colour poster of Jimba Jackobean yet? You can ask for your FREE poster on Alexis Tapp’s home page at www.AlexisTapp.com

And you can buy your own copy of  ‘Jimba Jackobean and the Bouncer Bangerrings‘ from the Jackowhisp Bookstore.

Short Stories For Kids #1 – Meet Jimba Jackobean

Who is Jimba Jackobean?

Jimba Jackobean is the main character in the first book of the Jack-o-Whisp series, ‘Jimba Jackobean and the Bouncer-Bangerrings’. Jack-o-Whispers are quiet, peaceful folk who live in Jack-o-Whisp Village, close to Bangerring Mountain.

Jimba is different from other Jack-o-Whisper because he is NOISY! He can’t help being noisy, it’s just the way he is. He isn’t naughty or anything, in fact he tries to be very helpful, like when he tried to help Mr Jitter-Jump at the town meeting. You can read all about what happened at that very important meeting in the book ‘Jimba Jackobean and the Bouncer-Bangerrings.’

Jimba lives with his parents and sister, Jessica. He goes to Jack-o-Whisp school and is in the fourth grade. If you haven’t downloaded yours yet, there’s a free colourful poster for you of Jimba on his way to school at www.AlexisTapp.com

Mrs Jickelby is Jimba’s teacher, and you will meet her in this first book, and in the second book, ‘Jimba Jackobean and the Octodillioes’, Mrs Jickelby takes Jimba and the fourth grade students in a bus on a field trip to the beach.

Jessica, Jimba’s sister, thinks he is the noisiest Jack-o-Whisper ever, and she is probably right :) . You will read about her in one of my stories called ‘Jessica Jackobean and the Quillarills’. Jessica plays a musical instrument and one day when Jimba is being his usual noisy self, she gets so annoyed that she goes off to Jindleberry Woodland, to find some  peace and quiet to practice. It is here she meets the Quillarills, who live inside the Billy-Bubble trees and compose music…
